The 80^th anniversary was a special event. In attendance was the Somme Association’s President HRH The Duke of Gloucester who had taken over the role from his mother Princess Alice.  The event was attended by with two veterans of the Great War, James Taylor and Harry Currie, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Sir Patrick Mayhew and around 600 members of the public.

The Duke of Gloucester was shown around the Visitor’s Centre by Billy Ervine of the Somme Association and presented the veterans with commemorative medals.
