Unveiling of VC Memorial

To mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme the 5th (Volunteer) Battalion, Royal Irish Rangers, raised the funds among the regiment and the friends of the regiment, for a new memorial in honour of the 9 members of the 36th (Ulster) Division who were awarded the Victoria Cross.  The fund raising was co-ordinated by Major R J Walker MBE.

The VC Memorial made in Mourne granite, was unveiled by HRH the Duke of Kent and is a lasting testament to their glorious deeds.
